“Bioeconomy and sustainable use of natural resources: from niche to norm. 4s – sustainability, speed, scale and skills.

We would like to invite you to a joint seminarBioeconomy and sustainable use of natural resources: from niche to norm. 4s – sustainability, speed, scale and skills”, organised by CEJA, CEPF, Copa-Cogeca, and EUSTAFOR on 30 June from 9:30 to 15:30 at Copa-Cogeca premises in Brussels. The seminar is fully physical and will be held only in English. We ask you to kindly note that participation is by invitation only.

After the European Commission conference on bioeconomy in October 2022, the Swedish Presidency conference in February 2023 and the adoption of the Council conclusions in April 2023, this seminar is organised to continue this debate and to have an open exchange with all relevant institutions and stakeholders on the next steps on how to go with bioeconomy from niche to norm and have it as a priority for primary producers for coming years.

On 29 June, on the evening before the seminar, a networking cocktail will be offered by the organisers in the European Forestry House from 18:00 to 20:00.

The seminar will start with Dr. Lorie Hamelin setting the scene with introduction on “Why bioeconomy is important and why it should be a priority for EU?”.

The introduction will be followed by four panel discussions:

  • What are the key messages from the Council conclusions on bioeconomy and the way forward?
  • Where we are and what next– EU, national, local level – with a focus on skills, education and knowledge exchange
  • Where we are and what next– EU, national, local level – with a focus on scale and speed
  • Where we are and what next– EU, national, local level – sustainable use of natural resources
  • Please find attached the invitation and here the link for registration (deadline to register 22 June).
