Public consultation on Sustainable EU food system – Consultation period 28 April 2022 - 21 July 2022

As you know, in the framework of the ‘‘European Green Deal”, the European Commission adopted a comprehensive Farm to Fork Strategy, which recognises the strong links between healthy people, healthy societies and a healthy planet and aims to address the challenges of sustainable food systems. In the context of the upcoming proposal for a legislative framework for sustainable food systems, the Commission has recently launched a public consultation on Sustainable food systems to gather opinions and evidence from stakeholders (citizens, economic operators of all sizes, including SMEs, and organisations representing them, consumer organisations, social partners, NGOs, public authorities at all governance levels, public purchasers, academia and research institutions, etc.) on the key issues relevant to the initiative. The questionnaire is accessible in all official EU languages and the deadline to respond is 21 July 2022.

Bioeconomy youth initiatives for 2022

We are excited to announce that the registration for the Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors is now open. You can register any time between now and 13 June.

The year 2022 is the European Year of Youth, as declared in the President von der Leyen’s State of the Union address. To celebrate youth, the Commission aims to give young people more and better opportunities for the future, for example by providing them with quality jobs, education and training. The Commission is also publishing its latest EU Youth Report, which provides information of the young Europeans education, training, learning, employment, civic and political participation.

In this framework, the Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors is an initiative that targets Young professionals and young students (18-35 years old) who could apply to be Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors. The ambassador will inform and inspire their communities on sustainable circular bioeconomy, especially youth populations, support the ongoing youth and education related processes of EU. Also, the ambassadors will be trained on content of bioeconomy and they would then engage in EU bioeconomy related events and work independently on passing the message of bioeconomy in a way they see fit in their communities.

You will find more information about the competition here: Become a Bioeconomy Youth Ambassador! | European Commission (europa.eu)
